WASHINGTON — Davidson third baseman Michael O'Shaughnessy and left-handed pitcher Matt Weber have secured the season's final Atlantic 10 Conference weekly honors, the league announced Monday afternoon.
O'Shaughnessy is Player of the Week for the second this time year, while Weber is a first-time Pitcher of the Week honoree.
O'Shaughnessy hit .727 (8-for-11) in the weekend series win over Richmond and posted a 1.994 OPS, including a 1.182 slugging percentage. He hit two doubles, a home run and drove in five.
"Shaggy has been great all year, and for him to cap the regular season with this award is fitting," said Davidson coach Rucker Taylor. "He's had a lot of individual success and has been instrumental in some team records that were set this year."
Weber turned in the best performance of his career in Thursday's 10-7 win over the Spiders. He threw six no-hit, scoreless innings and faced the minimum of 18 batters, while striking out three and walking one.
"Matt was great this weekend, and he's been excellent the second half of this year," said Taylor. "Matt was injured his first couple of seasons; to see him have such success the past two years is wonderful."
O'Shaughnessy, Weber and the Wildcats will open play in the A-10 Tournament on Tuesday.
