Wildcats Drop Series Finale to Billikens

The Wildcats (15-19 overall) exit the weekend 10-5 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and in a four-way tie for first alongside Dayton, George Mason and Rhode Island at the midpoint of the 30-game league schedule.
Cider Canon and Michael O'Shaughnessy hit two-run home runs in the seventh and ninth innings, respectively, to keep the Wildcats within range. Canon also added a triple off the wall in the fourth to finish with two hits. Jamie Daly and Anthony Torreso added two hits apiece.
Hank Gomric, who had the go-ahead hit in Saturday's game, also led Saint Louis (19-16, 8-7) Sunday, homering twice and driving in six runs. The Billikens' lead grew to 9-2 with three runs in the seventh.
Davidson starter Cooper Cavanaugh threw the first two innings, allowed two hits and one earned run and struck out four.

The Wildcats will visit Winthrop Tuesday in non-conference action.
