Stewart and 'Cats Impress on Final Day to Finish Runner-Up at Sea Palms

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Behind three sub-par rounds, including a bogey-free six-under 65 from Joshua Stewart, Davidson fired the day's lowest round to finish second out of 20 teams at The Peoples Championship hosted by Western Carolina University.
The Wildcats, who entered the final round eighth following a disappointing 293 Friday, bounced back with a 7-under 277 to finish the 54-hole event at 847 (-5) and join team champion UNCG (-21) as the only two in red numbers.
Stewart, who also finished tied for second a year ago in the annual event, concluded the three rounds at 9-under 204 (68-71-65) for his third Top-5 finish of the 2024-25 campaign.
Drexel (E), Villanova (+3) and Xavier (+5) rounded out the top five.
In its last three appearances on St. Simons Island, the 'Cats have two wins (2023, 2024) and a runner-up.
Davis Sayman (T-39) bolted up the individual leaderboard with a three-under 68 for the Wildcats, while freshman Nate Faulkner (T-54) shot 69 Saturday.
Also in the Davidson lineup were Will Davis (+3) and Jackson Bode (+11), who finished T-29th and T-77th, respectively, out of 120 competitors.
Will Tharin led Davidson's four individual competitors placing tied for 29th at three-over 216 (70-73-73).
Drexel's Drue Nicholas (-12), the lone individual to post three rounds in the sixties, captured medalist by three shots over Stewart and Jake Lewis of UNCG.
