Patel Repeats as Under Armour A-10 Player of the Week

WASHINGTON - The Davidson women's tennis team earned its second consecutive Atlantic 10 weekly honor as Kavya Patel repeats as the Under Armour Player of the Week after another solid two-match weekend, the league office announced Wednesday.

Patel, extended her singles winning streak to four matches with wins over competitors from both Presbyterian and UNC Asheville Saturday and Sunday respectively. The Roswell, Ga. native opened the weekend cruising to a 6-4, 6-2 No. 1 win over the Bulldogs before clinching the match for the Wildcats in a hard-fought 5-7, 7-6(12), 6-4 three-set triumph over the Blue Hose. The senior was also undefeated in doubles competition with Junior Olivia Hooper, taking 7-6(7-5), and 6-4 victories over Presby and UNC Asheville respectively.

On the season, Patel is a solid 6-1 in singles competition with all six wins coming from the No. 1 position. Additionally, Patel is 6-2 in doubles competition with four of her doubles wins coming on court one and the remaining two on court two, currently enjoying a five-game winning streak in paired matches.

Davidson remains home for its next match, facing non-conference opponent Gardner-Webb 3 p.m. March 5.
