Felt, Valmassei Secure Wins on Third Day of A-10s

HAMPTON, Va. — Two wins, two bronze medals and a school record marked Davidson's third day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships Friday.
 
Wins came from Dylan Felt in the men's 200 free (1:33.76) and Annica Valmassei in women's 3-meter diving (303.15). Felt's win, his second of the meet (500 free), came after he took silver in the 200 free the previous two years. Valmassei's title is her second in the 3M; she also won it in 2022.
 
Ginny Thorsen and Anna Newman secured bronze medals, with Thorsen taking third in the 200 free (1:49.90) and Newman tying for third in the 100 breast (1:01.90).
 
Felt joined Liam McDonough, Andrew Schou and Miles Charles on the 400 medley relay, which took fifth and set the Davidson mark (3:13.27).
 
The Wildcats secured 56 points in the men's 200 free, as Mitch McClain (6th, 1:38.98), Fletcher Smith (7th, 1:39.21), Guil Ware (9th, 1:38.56) and Matthew Shnowske (15th, 1:40.36) added to Felt's win.
 
Schou took sixth in the 100 breast (54.27), while McDonough took seventh in the 100 back (48.20) and Ryan Shute was seventh in the 400 IM (4:00.97). Charles (10th, 48.32) and Zain Butt (15th, 49.22) added points in the 100 fly, while Zach Jones added them in the 400 IM (11th, 3:59.87) and Jeremy Kemp did in the 100 back (13th, 48.89).
 
For the women, diver Elle Jacobsen took sixth (246.25) in the 3M, and Cynthia Huang was eighth in the 400 IM (4:26.19). Others adding points were Ann Thompson (100 back, 10th, 55.12), Rani Greer (100 breast, 11th, 1:02.86), Sophia Parker (100 fly, 12th, 55.34) and Addison Constantinides (200 free, 12th, 1:51.93).
 
Through 27 events, the Wildcat men are fourth among eight teams, while the women are fifth among 11.
 
Up Next
Saturday's action will include the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1,650 free, 400 free relay and men's 3-meter diving.
