COLUMBIA S.C. – In addition to Anne Berquist winning the 5K, Ashley Rangel broke her own school record in the shot put as the Davidson women's indoor track and field team returned to action at the Gamecock Challenge hosted by the University of South Carolina.

Berquist, a senior from Barrington, Ill. / Charlotte, N.C., finished the 5,000-meter race in 17:09.69 to claim the title by nearly 13 seconds.

Rangel, who broke a Davidson mark that stood for 15 years in her collegiate debut, broke her standard Saturday morning with a throw of 12.51m (41-00.50) to come home fifth.

The Wildcats, who last competed Dec. 7, also got personal records from Chris-Ann Nelson (25.48 | 200m), Elise Boyse (5:10.20 | Mile) and Isabella Darce (3:06.62 | 1000m) in their respective events.
