
League-Leading Patriots Top Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – George Mason used a lengthy second-half run and held on late to edge Davidson 64-60 in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Saturday afternoon inside John M. Belk Arena.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 13-7 overall and 3-5 in league play.
Bobby Durkin led the 'Cats with a game-high 17 points to go along with eight rebounds. Reed Bailey and Connor Kochera finished with 11 each for Davidson, which shot just 35.6 percent.
In addition to shooting 55 percent after intermission, George Mason (17-5, 8-1 A-10) started the second half with a 17-5 run to push the margin to as many as 16, 50-34, with 10:32 to play. Davidson responded with consecutive 3-pointers from Joe Hurlburt and Hunter Adam, eventually cutting the deficit to 62-60 on three Durkin free throws with 9.8 seconds left.
Brayden O'Connor then answered with a pair of freebies for the Patriots to all but put the game out of reach.
Jalen Haynes and Darius Maddox paced George Mason with 12 points each.
Despite connecting on its first three attempts from the floor and jumping out to an 8-2 lead, Davidson then cooled off on the offensive end but only trailed 33-29 at the half.
