ELON, N.C. – The Davidson College men's cross country team kicked off its 2024 season by taking the Friday Night Lights Elon Opener crown on Friday night. Sophomore John Cooper ran the fastest 6K time of the night at 18:29.7.
Overall, four Wildcats crossed the finish line within the top 10. Cooper led the charge, followed by senior Grahm Breiter, who took second with a time of 18:32.5. Kenny Eheman, also a senior, finished fourth with an 18:38.0, while Nathan Stewart grabbed ninth by crossing in 18:55.9.
Davidson scored an event-best 27 points to also earn the team title out of the nine-team field. The Wildcats started off the year in a similar fashion last year when they won Lenoir-Rhyne's SAC Preview to begin the season.
