Can you share an example of one or two ways philanthropic support has made your program stronger recently?
Our 2024 season will begin soon, and while we will continue to fight for the A-10 title like we have done in years past, we also have an exciting trip planned that would not be possible without the help of our donors. As soon as classes end for Spring Break, we will hop on a plane and travel to California to compete against UC Davis and Stanford University. What makes this trip even more special is we get to travel to the home of one of our senior captains. The trip will be a quick one, since we will start A-10 play as soon as we return to Davidson, but we are excited to make the most out of our time in California and will have a full day to explore San Francisco in between games.
Â
What are some key ways you see your program advancing in the next 1, 2, 5 years? The transition from Richardson Stadium to Field 76 will be a shining moment for our team. Playing in a stadium that is, hands down, the best stadium in the A-10 will help advance our program. We will have a locker room that fits the entire team and a place we can meet during halftime of every game. Additionally, adding a second assistant coach to our staff has given us the ability to coach all areas of the game and recruit in multiple regions at once.
Â
What do you see in our scholar-athletes every day that makes an investment in them worthwhile?
I see maturity, leadership and a strong work ethic. I see powerful young women who look out for one another like they are family. I see growth from their first year to their senior year. I see strong women who stand up for themselves and hold themselves and each other accountable. I see determination to win and succeed. And I see scholar-athletes who turn failure into an opportunity for growth.
Â
What are you most excited about when you think about the future of your program?
I am excited to compete and get better every year. We have goals we haven't reached yet, and I'm excited to continue fighting for them. I truly believe this squad can win an A-10 title, and we have players and coaches on this team who believe we can and will, too.
Â
"Athletics Done Right:" What does that mean to you?
We care about every program equally. We invest in the student just as much as the athlete. We have administrators who listen and care about every staff member and player in the athletic department. We supply the resources necessary to grow, and we continue to make improvements that put us in a position to compete in a tough Atlantic 10 Conference.
