‘Cats Cruise on Education Day, 84-53, Past UNC Pembroke

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson shot a season-best 59.3 percent from the floor as the 'Cats cruised past UNC Pembroke, 84-53, on Education Day inside John M. Belk Arena.
Playing in front of just under 3,500 fans, a majority from surrounding schools, the Wildcats improved to 4-7 overall, while Braves fall to 10-3.
Issy Morgan paced three Davidson players in double figures with 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting. Mallorie Haines and Tomisin Adenupe added 14 and 11, respectively with Haines connecting on 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
After trailing 7-2 early, the Wildcats closed the opening quarter on a 21-6 run before going to the half up, 45-29. Davidson would push the margin to as many as 32 late in the fourth (78-46).
The 'Cats recorded 50 points in the paint to go along with 38 from its bench and 20 off Braves' miscues.
Tiana Spann and Malea Garrison led the way for UNCP with 12 points each.
Davidson held the Braves to just 37.5 percent on the day and claimed a 33-26 advantage on the glass.
