Wildcats Roll by VMI 93-66

DAVIDSON — Bobby Durkin's hot-shooting first half and Reed Bailey's full stat line helped the Davidson Wildcats cruise to a 93-66 win over VMI Friday night in Belk Arena.
The Wildcats, now 4-0, had one of their top offensive nights so far, scoring the season-high 93, hitting a season-best 13 3-pointers and shooting 14-of-15 at the foul line. Davidson, tasked with finding shots against VMI's extended zone defense, assisted on 28 of its 33 baskets.
Bailey led the way with 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists, as one of four Wildcats to have at least five assists, while Durkin added 19 points, including 17 and a career-best five 3-pointers in the first half. Mike Loughnane chipped in 13 points and six assists, while Zach Laput provided 10 points and five assists. Connor Kochera finished with nine points and five assists.
The Wildcats got separation with a 19-4 run early in the first half and pushed their lead to 31-13 on Durkin's third 3-pointer at the 7:51 mark. Their first-half lead peaked at 20 points, 46-26, following two Bailey free throws with 1:36 left.
Davidson added to its advantage throughout the second 20 minutes, and Bailey scored nine straight points midway through. A trey by Roberts Blums with 1:43 left pushed the lead to 27 for the first time.
TJ Johnson led VMI (4-3) with 21 points.
