Davidson Downs Duquesne, 3-1

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Powered by three Wildcats with double-figure kills, the Davidson Wildcats completed their weekend sweep over Duquesne University with a 3-1 win from inside Belk Arena on Saturday night.
The 'Cats, who are now winners of five-straight matches, improved their overall record to 11-11, and 7-4 in conference play, with Saturday's win.
Emma Slusser fueled the offense with her match-best 14 kills, while Anna Withee (11) and Meile Songaila (10) joined the pin hitter in double-digits. Kayla Davis, in her second game back after a six-week hiatus, added seven kills on just 13 attempts.
Kinsey Smith (29 assists) and Xuan Nguyen (20) paced the attackers, while Jordan Hummel led the back line with 17 digs. Elena Garcia-Guerrios also provided 12 digs and two service aces.
The Wildcats won dominantly in sets one and four, jumping out to 8-2 leads at the start of both frames. In set one, the 'Cats led by as many as 12 points, thanks to a .393 attacking percentage, and served three aces and had three total blocks to win it 25-13.
While a Withee and Davis blocked secured Davidson's 25-23 set two win, the 'Cats ultimately clinched the match with a 25-15 victory in the fourth after a Songaila's 10th kill of the night.
