
Davidson Falls on the Road at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Davidson College wrestling team was unable to climb out of an early hole as they fell to the Chattanooga Mocs, 28-13, on Sunday afternoon.
Chattanooga was able to jump out to a 24-0 lead by winning the first five matches, all with bonus points. Davidson started to shift the momentum at the 165-pound bout when Bryce Sanderlin took down Kamdyn Munro in an 11-5 decision.
From there, the Wildcats got wins from Marc Koch at 174 pounds as he got a takedown in the last 45 seconds of the third period to edge Sergio Desiantes, 4-1. Freshman Wyatt Ferguson won the third straight match for Davidson as he picked up an 8-2 decision to also earn his third straight victory to move to 2-0 in SoCon action.
Senior heavyweight Jake Fernicola ended the day with a dominant 13-2 major decision behind two four-point near falls to bring the final score to 28-13.
