Wildcats Fall to George Mason and American; Peake Takes Down Ranked Opponent

Fairfax, Va. / Washington, D.C. – The Davidson wrestling team competed in two non-conference duals on Saturday. The Wildcats fell to George Mason, 24-10, in the first dual then dropped the nightcap to American 31-7.

Highlights
- Sophomore Tanner Peake took down #25 DJ McGee in a double overtime thriller at 157. Peake was able to escape late in regulation to force overtime before grinding out the 2-1 win in double overtime.
- Senior Bryce Sanderlin returned to the Wildcat lineup and won both his matches. The Chesapeake, Va. native won a 4-2 decision at 174 over George Mason before cruising to a 11-2 major decision at 165 against American.
- Also picking up victories on the day were Tyler-Xavier McKnight and Marc Koch. McKnight, a freshman from Cartersville, Georgia defeated Ethan Szerencsits, 11-8, on a takedown in overtime at 149. Koch secured a 12-2 major decision win over Evan Maag at 165 against George Mason.
