Wildcats Push By Wright State 82-73

DAVIDSON — The Davidson Wildcats eclipsed the 80-point mark and hit 30 shots for the second straight contest Saturday and earned their second consecutive win as well, downing Wright State 82-73 in Belk Arena.
Guard Grant Huffman scored a game-high 20 points, and forward David Skogman added 19 as four Wildcats hit double-digits and Davidson improved to 5-3. Reed Bailey added 14 points and eight boards, and Bobby Durkin chipped in with 13 points off the bench as the Wildcats shot a season-best 57.7 percent (30-of-52) from the field.
The Wildcats led 43-39 at the intermission, then got separation with a 13-2 run in the second half. Five Wildcats scored in the decisive run, bookended by a Huffman drive and finish with 16:04 left and a Bailey layup at the 12:07 mark. That 65-54 lead was the largest of the night in a game that featured 11 lead changes and six ties.
From there, the Raiders got within six points three times, but the Wildcats answered each time, first with a Sean Logan 3-pointer from the right corner, then with a Bailey free throw and finally with a Durkin trey from the top of the key that pushed the lead to 77-68 with 2:20 to play. Davidson hit five of its six free throw attempts in the final 1:52 to seal it.
Huffman added a game-high seven assists, while Logan blocked three shots. Skogman and Durkin connected on four and three long-range shots, respectively.
Wright State (3-5) was led by guard Trey Calvin and forward AJ Braun, who scored 17 and 16, respectively.
