DAVIDSON, N.C. – After a two-week break from competition, the Davidson women's cross country team returns to action Friday morning at the 2023 NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by USC Upstate.
The women's 6k will be held at the Roger Milliken Center with an 11 a.m. start time.
The annual event will feature 42 teams from the Southeast, including three nationally-ranked programs. The top-two finishing teams will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships held in Virginia, while the first four individual regional finishers not from an automatically qualifying team will earn the right to compete for the national championship as well.
Davidson last competed at the Atlantic 10 Championships, where it posted six personal-records highlighted by Frances Whitworth's third-place showing.
Selected all-conference for her performance, Whitworth has paced the Wildcats this season with three Top-5 finishes, including a pair of runner ups. In addition, the senior has recorded new personal bests in four of her five races, including a 21:05.3 at the conference meet, which was the second fastest time in school history.
Like Whitworth, junior Anne Berquist has taken a step forward each time out, while posting three Top-15 showings this season. Coming off a T-19th and new PR (21:49.7) at the league championships, her best finish of the season came at the East Carolina Invite, where she crossed the finish line in sixth place.
Also fresh off career-best times in their last outing, Molly Sullivan, Hallie Stewart and Jocelyn Millican will compete for Davidson in Spartanburg.
