Women Place Third in Final A-10 Tune-up

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In their final tune-up before the conference meet, the Davidson women's cross country team came home third out of 26 teams Friday afternoon at the Royals Challenge hosted by Queens.
Once again, the Wildcats were led by freshman Sarah Maple, who finished ninth with a personal-best time of 17:46.1 after sitting as far back as 60th.
Sophomore Ansley Prescott (19th) was next to cross the line for the 'Cats with a time of 18:01.8 (PR). Abby Smith (18:11.1 | SB) and Justine Meta (18:14.4 | PR) also finished inside the Top-30, while Gilly Shumate was close behind with a season-best time of 18:18.3.
Davidson, which totaled 111 team points finished just behind runner-up Furman (86). Catawba claimed the team title highlighted by three runners finishing inside the Top-15.
For the Wildcats, it was their third Top-5 finish and fourth Top-10 in as many events this season.

Davidson will have a three-week break from competition before returning to action at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Oct. 31.
