Wildcats Top Spiders in A-10 Quarterfinals

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Davidson men's tennis team opened up its run at the Atlantic 10 Championship with a 4-1 victory over league foe Richmond on Friday morning in the quarterfinal round.
With the win, the Wildcats will return to the courts tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. to take on top-seeded VCU.
The 'Cats started off the day strong, battling through all three doubles matches to secure the first point of the day. After dropping the court two match, Davidson's top duo of Alejandro Solares and Udday Singh fought back to win 6-4, despite trailing 4-1 at the start. Freshmen duo Nico Pinzon and Juan Camilo Perez Gongora then clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory of their own.
On the singles courts, Davidson relied on its freshman ace Singh, along with the steady play of seniors Sam Kavarana and Brooks Green.
From court two Singh picked up a solid 6-1, 6-4 victory, followed by Green's 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 to put the 'Cats ahead 3-0.
Richmond pulled within two points of Davidson, with a win at court four, before Kavarana was able to clinch the match with a three-set, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win at court five.
