'Cats Win Big on Senior Day, Take Down Presby 26-11

DAVIDSON, N.C. - On Senior Day, Davidson Wrestling celebrated two things - 100 Years of Davidson Wrestling and a victory in their final regular season home dual, defeating Presbyterian College, 26-11, inside Belk Arena. The 'Cats (5-10, 3-5) won seven of the 10 duals on Sunday to end their season.
"Today was a great day for Davidson Wrestling," head coach Andy Lausier said. "Celebrating 100 years of our program was so special, and we can't wait to keep building. I am so grateful to all who are involved in this program, and especially our seniors."
Davidson honored six seniors before the match - Evan Clark, Erik Eva, Lachlan Rosato, Finlay Holston, Kyle Gorant and Mitchell Trigg - and three of them won each of their matches. Gorant and Holston both earned major decisions over their opponents while Trigg held on for a 4-0 decision to close it out for the 'Cats.
After dropping the 125 match, Gorant's 10-1 major brought the 'Cats within one, 5-4. Nick Cambria registered a 2-1 decision over his opponent to put Davidson in the lead 7-5. After Bryce Sanderlin's match gave Davidson a 10-8 lead, the 'Cats never looked back.
Jaden Hardrick already had a 2-0 advantage before he pinned his opponent in the first round at 2:11 to notch his second pin of the season. Gavin Henry registered a 5-3 decision before Holston's 12-0 major over Aiden Jean of Presbyterian.
UP NEXT
Davidson will head to the Southern Conference Tournament next Saturday, March 5.
