Wildcats Ready for Panthers

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson Wildcats will return to their home floor on Saturday night, looking for their third straight win, ready to take on the High Point University Panthers at 6 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT... The Davidson Wildcats rolled to their second win in as many games on Wednesday night, downing the Georgetown Hoyas, 70-55 from inside McDonough Memorial Gymnasium. The 'Cats ignited into a hot-shooting performance and hardly looked back, shooting above 46 percent for 30 minutes and above 50 percent in quarters two and four. Elle Sutphin lit up the Wildcats' offense, scoring a career-high 17 points off an impressive 7-of-9 shooting performance, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Chloe Welch (14 pts), Issy Morgan (11 pts) and Cassidy Gould (10 pts) rounded out Davidson's double-digit scorers, as the Wildcats posted four players in double-figures for the first time this season. Sarah Konstans led the 'Cats on the glass for the second time this season with six boards.
STRENGTH IN NUMBERS... Dating back to the 2019-20 season, Davidson is 19-6 when making 25 field goals or more in a single game. In those games, the Wildcats shot at least 35.9% or better from from the floor including four performances with a 50% or higher field goal percentage. This season, the 'Cats have hit 25 or more field goals in their last three games and average 25.5 field goals per game.
GOULD AS GOLD... As Davidson's floor general, senior Cassidy Gould is averaging 6.8 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game through the first four games of the season. The Melbourne native has also dished 21 assists, averaging 5.2 per game, which ranks 22nd in the nation across NCAA Division I women's basketball. The senior also ranks among the top-3 in the Atlantic 10 for her total assists and assists per game average.
