MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. –
Sam Mennenga scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and frontcourt mate Luka Brajkovic recorded a double-double (14 pts, 11 rebs) to lead Davidson past Penn, 72-60, on day two of the Myrtle Beach Invitational inside the HTC Center.

With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 2-2, while the Quakers fall to 2-4 on the young season.

Fellow starters, Michael Jones (13), Hyunjung Lee (12) and Foster Loyer (10) also recorded double figures for the 'Cats, who shot 50 percent from the floor, including 8-of-18 from long range.

In addition to his 11th career double-double, Brajkovic handed out six of Davidson's 19 assists.

Freshman Desmond Watson gave the Wildcats a boost off the bench with 6 points and a steal in 18 minutes.

After Penn cut the deficit to 38-36 early in the second half, Davidson reeled off 10 straight and would push the lead to as many as 17 with under two minutes remaining.

Jordan Dingle paced the Quakers with 13 points.

Davidson scored the first 11 points and stretched the margin to 16-1 on a Lee triple six minutes into the contest.

The Quakers responded with a lengthy run of their own and eventually tied the score, 29-29, before a Brajkovic 3-pointer just prior to the half gave the 'Cats a 32-29 advantage at the break.
