DAYTON, Ohio – Dayton placed five players in double figures and shot 72.3 percent from the floor as the nationally-ranked Flyers defeated Davidson, 82-67, Friday evening inside UD Arena.
The win was the 18th straight for Dayton, which captured the Atlantic 10 regular season crown, while improving to 27-2 overall and 16-0 in the league.
Obi Toppin led the way for the Flyers with 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds.
Despite the loss, the Wildcats' backcourt of Kellan Grady (22) and Jon Axel Gudmundsson (20) combined for 42 points. Freshman Hyunjung Lee added 13 off the bench.
Dayton used a lengthy run late in the first 20 minutes to grab control before carrying a 42-24 lead into the half.
The Wildcats shot 57.7 percent after intermission to finish the game at 47.2 percent, including a 9-of-21 effort from long range.
After Davidson (15-13, 9-7 A-10) cut the deficit to 77-64 on a Luka Brajkovic trey with 3:30 to play, the Flyers responded with a small spurt to put the game out of reach.

Davidson will play its final road game of the regular season when it travels to Richmond for a 7 p.m. tip Tuesday inside the Robins Center.
