LAKELAND, Fla.  — Davidson got its spring break trip to the state of Florida off to a strong start by sweeping Florida Southern 7-0 in men's tennis Monday afternoon on the FSC Tennis Courts.

The win was the Wildcats third straight, pushing their season record to 9-3 with a 3-1 road mark. It was also their fifth shutout win of the season.

Sweeping all three doubles spots by the scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3, the 'Cats jumped out to the early 1-0 lead. The duo of Douglas MacIntosh and Camden Mazzoni won their third straight to improve to a team-best 8-4 on the season.

The duo continued their afternoon in singles play and came out with strong straight-set wins at No. 6 and 4 positions, respectively, to help the 'Cats sweep all six spots. MacIntosh took a 6-4, 7-5 decision for his sixth win, while Mazzoni won for the eighth time in 10 matches by giving up just a single game in a 6-0, 6-1 showing.

Freshman Brooks Green sealed up his team-leading ninth singles win with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 5. Fellow classmate Sam Kavarana moved to 7-2 on the season after a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 3.

Moving to 8-3 on the season was Yash Parikh on the strength of a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2. He has seven of his wins at that spot in the lineup.

Rounding out the singles winners was junior Axel Fries, who scored a 6-2, 6-2 win for his sixth victory on the year.
