RENO, Nevada – Caleb Martin paced four Nevada players in double figures with a game-high 26 points and the Wolf Pack shot 55.6 percent in an 81-68 victory over Davidson, Tuesday at the Lawlor Events Center.
In addition to shooting 68 percent in the second half, Nevada started the period 12-of-16 from the floor and used a 17-5 spurt midway through the frame to stretch the margin to double digits.
Josh Hall (17), Jordan Caroline (16) and Cody Martin (12) also hit the 10-point plateau for the Wolf Pack.
The Wildcats, who entered leading the nation in several categories, including 3-pointers made per game and fewest turnovers, drilled 13 3-pointers, but committed 15 miscues.
Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Peyton Aldridge led the 'Cats with 13 points each, while Kellan Grady added 10.
Davidson (2-1), which shot 41.1 percent overall, cut the deficit to 11 with 3:33 to play, but was unable to inch closer as the Wolf Pack responded with an 8-1 run.
Both teams finished with 30 rebounds.
After Nevada (5-0) raced out to a 9-0 advantage, the Wildcats answered with a spurt of their own and eventually took the lead on consecutive 3-pointers from KiShawn Pritchett.
The opening 20 minutes featured eight lead changes before the Wolf Pack closed with four straight to carry a 31-29 margin into the half.
