DAVIDSON, N.C.  —  Despite putting three scorers in double figures for the first time this season, Davidson saw UNC Wilmington finish the game on a 14-4 run to erase the 'Cats' comeback efforts in a 67-58 setback Wednesday evening inside John M. Belk Arena in women's basketball.

Mackenzie Latt led the way with team highs of 14 points and eight rebounds to go with three assists and a block. She was held scoreless though in the last two quarters, getting off just three shots.

Ally Welling came off the bench for a season-high 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and a couple of free throws, while pulling in five rebounds. Justine Lyon rounded out the trio of double-digit scores with 10 points and six rebounds.

UNCW (3-3) matched the 'Cats with three of its own double-digit scorers, led by Madison Raque's 16 points. Diamond Willis and Jasmine Steele added 12 and 13 points, respectively. Steele scored seven of her points in the closing two minutes, including five at the free throw line to seal up the win.

Jordan Henry and Rebekah Banks pulled in 13 and 10 rebounds, respectively, for the Seahawks, which held a 49-45 edge on the glass.

Three times the Wildcats overcame deficits to take the lead, only to see UNCW answer right back. Trailing 29-23 to start the third quarter, the 'Cats used a 16-9 run capped off by a Welling layup to grab a 39-38 lead with 4:13 left in the quarter. Welling followed again with another layup on Davidson's next possession for a 41-40 lead, but UNCW answered by wrapping up the quarter on a 13-3 spurt to go up 53-44. Welling (6) and Lyon (8) combined for 14 of Davidson's 21 points in the quarter.

Davidson (0-7) battled right back to start the final quarter, rattling off a 10-0 streak to take its final lead of 54-53 with 6:13 left. Rachel Piles and Chloe Johnson scored four points each during the run.

The Wildcats then went cold, missing its next eight shots and the Seahawks started to pull away. UNCW closed it out with the 14-4 run, picking up eight of those points at the free-throw line in the final 1:13.

A Latt three-ball before the buzzer at the end of the first quarter got Davidson within 10 (20-10). The junior carried the momentum into the next quarter, scoring nine points and the Wildcats won the quarter 13-9 to trail by six at the half.

The 'Cats had a season-high 34 points in the paint, while it dished out a game-high 14 assists, getting half of those assists from Johnson to give her a career high.
