THE GAME
• Coming off a bye week, Davidson will open conference play Saturday with a 1 p.m. kick-off at Morehead State.

Davidson took an early 18-7 lead in the second quarter but the Eagles scored back-to-back touchdowns and a field goal to eventually clinch the win in the second half.
• The last Pioneer Football League win for the Wildcats came at Valparaiso on Nov. 10, 2012 where Davidson took a 28-27 overtime victory.
• This week's honorary captain is former Marshall University assistant coach Jared Smith. Smith was on the Herd staff during Nichols' three-year tenure at Marshall as Special Units Coordinator and running backs coach.

QUICK SLANTS

DB Ryan Felice also tallied 10 tackles, while LB James Gessner charted nine for personal bests. DB Ben Rowell picked up his first-career sack, while DB William Curran intercepted his first-career pass.
• Last season, the Wildcats finished the year 1-11 as they picked up their first win in 12 contests with a 56-0 victory of College of Faith to open the season.
• This season, the Wildcats return 50 letterwinners, including 16 starters. Wide receiver William Morris and defensive lineman Chris Woods, who are both senior captains, are Davidson's top returnees.
• Davidson welcomes another large freshmen class this season, adding 34 to the 2015 roster. Last year, the Wildcats welcomed their largest class of 36 since the 2009 season.
