CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Three Davidson players finished in double figure kills as the Wildcats downed Chattanooga 3-1 to sweep the Mocs 2-0 on the season in Southern Conference action Sunday afternoon Maclellan Gym. The Cats took the match by set scores of 25-16, 19-25, 27-25 and 25-18.

In addition to Brown and Chamberlin, three more Wildcats put up double-digit digs. Derochie tied her career high with 53 assists, the most she's had in a four-set match.

Sewell picked up the lone solo block of the day, adding a pair of assists, while Chamberlin posted a trio of blocks as the team came away with 7.0.

Anne Bachman had a team-high 26 assists, followed by Catherine Chason with 14. Melissa Green led four players with in double figure digs at 28. Talley also led the Mocs with six total blocks as Chattanooga posted 10 as a team.

Davidson rolled to an 8-1 lead as Chamberlin and Brown combined for five early kills. The Mocs cut the deficit to five, but four straight from the Wildcats made it 15-6 on a kill by Pisel. With several errors from both teams, Davidson put away the final five points to take the set 25-16.

Pisel had a pair of early kills as Davidson took the first three points of set two. The teams battled to a 6-6 tie before the Mocs worked their way to a 12-9 lead on a block by Talley and Batterton. Though the teams traded points, the advantage remained in favor of the Mocs who extended their lead to 17-13 on a kill by Bachmann. A mini rally by the Cats wasn't enough as the Mocs rolled off three in a row to take the set 25-19 and tie the match 1-1.

The teams traded points in starting the third set, tying the match at 10-10. The Wildcats scored four of the next five points to take the lead, and three kills from Brown would keep them in front. The Mocs slimmed the deficit to just one at 19-18 and came back from a timeout to tie it 22-22. After UTC took a 25-24 lead, the Wildcats rallied for four straight points to take the 27-25 win and match lead at 2-1.

Looking to close out the match, the Wildcats took eight straight points in the middle of the fourth set in earning a 17-8 lead. A block by Franklin and Pisel made it a 23-16 set in favor of the Wildcats. The Mocs picked up a few points to extend play, but Sewell slammed down the game-winning kill as Davidson claimed the set 25-18 and the match 3-1.

The Wildcats return home next weekend to host a pair of SoCon foes. They welcome The Citadel to Belk Arena Friday, Nov. 8, in a 7 p.m. contest before facing Georgia Southern in the team's annual Senior Day at 2 p.m. Saturday.
