Scouting the Wildcats: At 2-12, injuries have taken their toll on the 'Cats, who are 0-3 so far in Southern Conference competition. Junior Vitaly Radsky (141 pounds) earned a big win though in the 'Cats last outing, a 40-9 loss to UNC Greensboro. With a 3-2 decision, Radsky defeated Ivan Lopouchanski, who entered the bout with a 27-6 overall record, 3-0 in the conference. The win improved Radsky's record to 13-6 overall with a team-best 8-2 mark in dual meets.
Twin brother Alex Radsky has also performed well, earning a decision at UNCG at 133 pounds. He has now won five of his last six bouts. Sophomore Tyler Mullen has also emerged as one of the 'Cats top threats. The 2009 SoCon All-Freshman selection will be looking to extend a six-bout winning streak. The streak includes wins over VMI and UNCG, giving him a 2-0 conference record. He went just 1-4 in SoCon competition during his freshman campaign.
Senior Ben Altman continues to lead Davidson with a 17-10 overall record and 38 points scored in dual meet competition. He is 7-6 in duals, but is searching for his first conference dual win of the season.
Scouting the Bulldogs: The Citadel enters with a 6-5 overall record, and is 1-3 in the SoCon. Their lone conference win came on Jan. 16 when they defeated VMI, 24-10. Chattanooga (34-7), UNC Greensboro (32-9) and Appalachian State (21-16) have dealt them losses. The Citadel enters the match after taking a pair of non-conference wins over Limestone and Anderson. Sophomore Odie Delaney leads the team with a 22-8 record. Last season he was the SoCon's 197-pound champion but he has wrestled his last five bouts at heavyweight, going 4-1. His lone loss came to the defending SoCon heavyweight champion, Josh Wine of VMI.
The Series: Davidson is seeking its first-ever win over The Citadel.
Up Next: Following The Citadel match, just six duals remain before Davidson hosts the 73rd Annual SoCon Wrestling Championships on Mar. 6. On Tuesday, Davidson will make the trip to Boone, N.C. to face Appalachian State in the final conference dual. The 'Cats will then host both Anderson and Belmont Abbey on Friday, Feb. 12 before taking their final road trip of the season to Buies Creek, N.C., where they wil face Campbell and NC State. The regular season will conclude Feb. 18 when Davidson hosts Duquesne.
