CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Tony White Jr. scored 17 points, including four free throws inside the final minute, and the College of Charleston held Davidson to 28.6 percent shooting in the second half to earn a 59-52 victory over the Wildcats in the semifinal round of the Southern Conference Tournament at The McKenzie Arena Sunday evening.

The Wildcats trailed 51-48 following a Stephen Curry jumper with 4:17 to play and missed four 3-pointers that would have tied the game over the next 2:58. Donavan Monroe scored a layup with 1:19 left to increase the Cougars' lead to five.

Jeremy Simmons blocked an Andrew Lovedale layup attempt on Davidson's next possession but was whistled for a technical foul after the play. Curry sank two free throws to make the score 53-50 with 1:04 remaining.

White Jr. was fouled and missed the front end of a one-and-one for Charleston. Curry had a look at game-tying 3-point attempt from the wing on Davidson's possession, but the shot wouldn't go and the 'Cats were forced to foul. White Jr. and Andrew Goudelock combined to go 6-for-6 from the charity stripe in the last 39 seconds to seal the win.

Curry finished with 20 points, and his leaner in the lane with 4:17 to go was his 18th point, pushing the junior past Marshall's Skip Henderson to become the SoCon's career scoring leader. Ben Allison netted 12 points off the bench, and Lovedale added eight points and five rebounds. Will Archambault led the 'Cats (26-7) with 10 boards.

Goudelock finished with 12 points for the Cougars (26-7), and Monroe netted 13. Dustin Scott corralled a game-high 17 rebounds.

Davidson built a 29-20 halftime lead with stingy defense of its own, holding Charleston to 21.2 percent from the floor in the first frame. But the Cougars turned the tide in the second half, holding the Wildcats to 8-of-28 from the floor and 1-of-12 from 3-point range.

The Cougars opened the second stanza by allowing just two Davidson field goals in the first 11 minutes and used a 20-4 run, sparked by 10 points from Goudelock, to take a 40-33 lead.

At the least, Davidson's season will continue as the Wildcats earned the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the NIT.

Game Notes: Curry now has 2,577 points, moving him into 36th on the NCAA Division I career scoring list… It was the first game all season Davidson lost when holding its opponent to under 40 percent shooting… Archambault's 10 boards as a career high… Lovedale played in his 128th career game, tying the school record held by former teammates Jason Richards and Thomas Sander… Allison's 12 points tied his career high.
