DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Citadel's Demetrius Nelson led all players with 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to a 64-46 Southern Conference victory over Davidson Wednesday night at John M. Belk Arena.

Sophomore Brendan McKillop made the most of his first collegiate start, scoring a career-high 15 points, and adding five rebounds, also a career-best mark. Senior Andrew Lovedale recorded his eighth double-double of the season, leading the Wildcats with 16 points and 11 boards.

Three Bulldogs scored in double figures on the night, with Cameron Wells shooting 8-for-8 from the free throw line on his way to 15 points, and Zach Urbanus adding 11.

Davidson (22-5, 15-2 SoCon) held the Bulldogs to 40 percent shooting from the field, while causing 13 turnovers, but could not capitalize on the offensive end, shooting a season-low 25.4 percent and turning the 13 turnovers into just eight points.

The 'Cats entered halftime facing a 28-21 deficit, and The Citadel (18-10, 13-4) came out of the break with an 11-2 run, holding Davidson scoreless for the first 3:14 of the second half, to build a 16-point lead.

Davidson trimmed The Citadel lead to 10 with a driving layup by Will Archambault with 4:35 remaining in the game, but the Bulldogs answered with a 3-pointer at the other end to stretch the advantage to 52-39. Davidson would not get the margin into single digits for the remainder of the game, and the Bulldogs pushed the margin to a game-high 18 points with 29 seconds left.

The Wildcats were without the nation's leading scorer, Stephen Curry, who suffered a sprained ankle in Davidson's 75-60 win over Furman on Feb. 14.

Davidson continues a four-game home stand when they take on No. 21 Butler on Saturday, Feb. 21. The noon contest will be broadcast on ESPN as part of the network's BracketBusters event.

NOTES: Curry missed the first game of his college career, having appeared in all 96 previous contests … With three blocks, Lovedale moved into a tie for third place on both the Davidson single-season and career blocks list… He now has 43 swats on the year, and is two away from becoming the third player in school history with 100 career blocks… It was the eighth straight sellout at Belk Arena.
