Davidson returns to action at Duke Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Furman Sweeps Series by Outlasting Davidson 11-9

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Matt Webb, Danny Weiss and Chris FitzPatrick each collected three hits, but Davidson fell 11-9 in SoCon baseball action at Furman Sunday afternoon at Latham Stadium.
Webb was 3-for-5 with a double, a homer and two RBIs for the Wildcats (10-32, 2-19 SoCon), and Weiss went 3-for-5 with an RBI. FitzPatrick was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Hugh Eden and Sam Payne each collected two hits.
Trailing 10-4, Davidson got two runs in the top of the eighth inning when Chase FitzPatrick doubled with two outs and scored on an error mishandling Tommy Piacenza's grounder. Eden drove in Piacenza with a single, making the margin 10-6.
After the Paladins (29-15, 15-6 SoCon) picked up an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth, Davidson rallied to make things interesting in the ninth for the second straight game.
Webb led off with a homer, and Weiss followed with a single through the left side. Payne drove Weiss home with a double, and a Chris FitzPatrick double with two outs made the score 11-9 with a runner on second. But Furman's Nick Karow ended the rally by striking out Eden.
The Paladins were ahead 6-1 when Davidson got a pair of runs in the fourth. Zach Kayne led off with a single and scored as Webb followed with a double down the left field line. Webb went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Weiss groundout, making the margin 6-3.
Furman answered by recording four runs in the bottom of the fifth to open a 10-3 margin. Chris FitzPatrick singled home Weiss with two outs in the top of the sixth to trim the lead to 10-4.
The Wildcats return to action in a non-conference game at Duke Tuesday at 7 p.m. Davidson finishes its home schedule with a three-game series against Elon, beginning with a doubleheader Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Wilson Field.
