Katy McNay was promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics on May 1, 2025.
Now in her 28th year at Davidson and 17th as the department's Senior Woman Administrator, McNay serves on the Senior Staff and oversees men's and women's tennis, women's lacrosse, women's soccer and the Wellness and Recreation program. Many of her duties involve managing scholar-athlete support services as well as oversight of the compliance office, ensuring that all coaches, scholar-athletes and administrators work within the guidelines set by the NCAA, Atlantic 10 and Davidson College.
McNay serves as the chair of the A-10 Women's Tennis Committee and is a member of the A-10 compliance committee, the A-10 Senior Woman Administrators committee as well as Davidson's administrative liaison to the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC). She serves on the NCAA Committee for Legislative Relief. She also served on and chaired the NCAA Women’s Tennis committee.
McNay was a member of the women’s tennis team at Appalachian State University and served as the team’s captain in the 1995-96 season. She earned her bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from the school in 1997 and received a master’s degree in education, with a concentration in sport management, from the University of Georgia in 1999.
She began her career as the athletics business manager at Davidson in 1998 and became the school’s director of compliance in 1999. McNay was named senior woman administrator in 2007.
She and her husband, Matt, reside in Huntersville and have two grown sons, JD and Will.
