Wildcats Fall in Narrow Decision to Charleston

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson men's tennis dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to Charleston on Saturday afternoon from the Davidson Tennis Courts.
The Wildcats (4-13) saw a closely contested match come down to the final singles court after Charleston (11-5) secured the early advantage. The Cougars claimed the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Davidson's duo of Goyo Hidalgo and Kai Villagomez provided a highlight in doubles play, earning a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot.
In singles play, Davidson battled back to split the six matches. Goyo Hidalgo continued his strong day with a convincing 6-4, 6-2 straight-set win at the No. 2 position. Connor Cole added to the Wildcats' tally with a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 6.
Senior captain Sebastian Carpio Moran showed resilience at the No. 4 spot, fighting back after dropping the first set to defeat Jake Smith 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Despite the comeback effort, Charleston's Ram Mude managed to seal the dual match victory by outlasting Davide Procacci in two tight tiebreak sets (7-6, 7-6) at the No. 3 position.
