‘Cats Win Three Events to Highlight Davidson Relays

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Wildcats captured three event titles to highlight competition for the women's track & field team at the 2026 Davidson Relays inside the Lisa and Jeff Case Track and Field Complex Saturday.
Davidson's first-place finishes came from Ansley Prescott (Mile / 4:59.44), Katie Deacon (800m / 2:17.53) and Gilly Shumate (3000m / 10:11.62).
In addition, Ava Linnell (5:03.11) and Mary Shoop (5:03.30) followed Prescott in the mile, while the Wildcats also swept the top-three spots in the 800 with Jocelyn Millican and Isabella Godoy finishing just behind Deacon in 2:17.83 and 2:18.72, respectively.
Shumate, selected an all-rookie performer on the trails and following the indoor campaign, was just as impressive this afternoon bettering the 28-runner field by more than 12 seconds.
Stefania Williams, the Wildcats' all-time best in the long jump, came home second in the event out of 32 with a distance of 5.78m / 18-11.75.
Other bright spots for Davidson included the 4x400 Relay (Elle Collins, Beatrice Wiley, Leila Haley, Sofia Kardel) team, which finished second, Hannah Casey (100m Hurdles: 14.57 / 3rd), Ashley Rangel (Hammer - 46.07m / 7th & Shot Put: 13.17m / 6th).

Davidson will head up the road to High Point next Thursday and Friday to compete in the annual Vertklasse Meeting.
