
Heap’s Historic Run Concludes at 2026 NCAA Championships

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Davidson sophomore Anderson Heap's historic season concluded Thursday at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships, where the Southern Conference champion fell in the consolation bracket inside Rocket Arena.
Entering as the No. 26 seed at 149 pounds, Heap opened his first national tournament with a 10-2 setback to No. 7 Ethan Stiles of Ohio State. He was later eliminated in the first round of the consolation bracket by No. 23 Max Petersen of North Dakota State.
Despite the season-ending losses, Heap became the first Davidson wrestler to qualify for the NCAA Championships in 11 years and just the 10th in program history since 1938. He finished his sophomore campaign with a 20-11 record after capturing the program's first individual conference title since 2015.
