Rangel Breaks Shot Put Record; Personal Records Highlight Boston Meet

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. / BOSTON, Mass. – Competing at JDL, Davidson's Ashley Rangel eclipsed her own school record for the third straight weekend, while a number of Wildcats set personal records to highlight competition for the women's indoor track & field team at the David Hemery Valentine Invite Saturday.
A sophomore from Centerton, Ark., Rangel set a new standard in the shot put with a throw of 13.28m (43-07.00) to finish third. Rangel, who also holds the program mark in the weight throw, came home third in the event as well with a mark of 14.37m (47-01.75).
In Boston, Elise Boyse (4:55.37), Ansley Prescott (4:58.31), Mary Shoop (5:04.38) and Ava Linnell (5:07.87) set new personal records in the mile.
Senior Molly Sullivan led Davidson's distance runners later that evening, clocking a personal-best 9:47.40 in the 3K. She was joined by first-year teammates Gilly Shumate (9:59.14) and Charlotte Moor (10:05.15), both of whom also recorded their fastest career times.

Davidson will travel to Columbia, S.C., next weekend for the USC Invite hosted by the University of South Carolina.
