Stewart and Davis Shine in Season Opener

MOBILE, Ala. – Joshua Stewart and Will Davis came home tied for third and sixth, respectively, to lead the Davidson men's golf team at the 2025 Hal Williams Collegiate hosted by the University of South Alabama.
The annual two-day event was played at Magnolia Grove.
Stewart, who entered the day tied for sixth, carded five more birdies en route to a three-under 68 and 54-hole total of 204 (-9). Ranked 132nd nationally, Davis (205 | -8) carded one of the day's lowest rounds with a four-under 67 to finish one back of his teammate.
The Wildcats finished the day where they started at seven-under following an even-par showing of 284 in the final round.
Southern Methodist (-25), ranked 15th nationally, led wire-to-wire to edge Kent State (-24) for the team title.
Will Tharin (+5 | T-58), Nate Faulkner (+8 | T-69) and Clayton Couey (+10 | T-72) were also in the Davidson lineup, while Davis Sayman (+4 | T-54) competed as an individual highlighted by a one-under 70 Tuesday.
In addition to the host and Wildcats, the 13-team field included Oral Roberts, Kent State, Southern Mississippi, Texas State, Southern Methodist, Kansas State, Seton Hall, Louisiana Tech, Alabama at Birmingham, Memphis and Southern Illinois.

Davidson will enjoy a month break from tournament action before attempting to defend titles over Spring Break at the Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate (March 10-11) and Sea Palms Invitational (March 13-15).
