Perez Gongora and Singh Garner A-10 Honors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Davidson College men's tennis player Juan Camilo Perez Gongora earned Atlantic 10 First Team and All-Academic honors while fellow junior Udday Singh was named a Second Team selection, the league announced Tuesday.

"I am very proud of the guys this year," said head coach Drew Barrett. "They were consistent and focused with their training, and it paid off."

Perez Gongora, a junior Physics major, led the team in singles wins with an 11-8 record while finishing equal in doubles at 9-9. The Puerto de la Cruz, Spain, native was undefeated in A-10 regular season singles matches with a perfect 4-0 mark, including wins over St. Bonaventure, Richmond, Duquesne and Saint Louis.

Perez Gongora served as one of the top players for the Wildcats as he picked up one win in the No. 1 position while his other 10 were at the No. 2 position. Perez Gongora was also named a 2023 ITA Scholar Athlete and more recently a 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District honoree.

Singh, a native of Chandigarh, India, finished the Spring season with a 9-8 singles record and 8-7 mark in doubles competition. The junior Economics major earned four of his singles wins in the No. 1 spot and five in the No. 2 spot, pacing the 'Cats with the most wins on the leading court. 

In doubles, Singh went on a five-match unbeaten streak from the No. 2 position while claiming a 2-0 mark in regular-season A-10 doubles matches. Singh was also named a 2023 ITA Scholar Athlete.
