Six 'Cats Place at Wilkes Open

WILKES, BARRE, Pa. – Six Wildcats placed at the Wilkes Open in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. this afternoon.
Blake Reihner, Hale Robinson, Tyson Sherlock, Tyler-Xavier McKnight, Anderson Heap, and Bryce Griffin all found their way to the podium. The group also combined for 25 wins in 32 matches.
Reihner, a freshman from Pennsylvania, wrestled at 133 pounds for the first time this season and looked the part. He went 4-1 and made it all the way to the finals behind three wins by decision and a tech fall. Reihner fell to App State's Chad Bellis in the final, but not before he improved his overall record to 10-3 on the season.
At 149, the Wildcats had a pair of third-place finishers in Tyler-Xavier McKnight and Anderson Heap. The duo each went 4-1 and advanced to the semifinals before falling to the consolation bracket. From there, they both advanced to face each other in the third-place bout to conclude their day. McKnight moved to 16-4 on the year while Heap improved to 9-4.
Rounding out the Davidson placers were Tyson Sherlock and Bryce Griffin. Sherlock, a freshman from Pittsburgh, rallied back from an opening-match loss with five straight wins to claim fifth place in his college debut. Griffin fell to the consolation bracket after a second-round loss but proceeded to win four straight to also take fifth. The Bethalto, Ill. native moved his record to 11-5.
Other Noteworthy Performances
Senior Hale Robinson finished fourth in the 133-pound weight class. The Hawaii native won his first three matches to advance to the semis before dropping his final two.
Sophomore John Hager went 4-2 on the day before falling by one point a match shy of the consolation semifinals.

The Wildcats will be off for the holidays and pick back up for the Southern Scuffle hosted by Chattanooga on January 4-5.
