Divers Lead Wildcats on First Day at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Divers Elle Jacobsen and Annica Valmassei finished 2-3 in the one-meter competition to lead Davidson's swimmers and divers Friday evening on the first full day of the three-day Bucknell Invitational.
By taking second and third, Jacobsen (259.00 points) and Valmassei (255.90) earned the Wildcats 55 points in the seven-team event.
The Wildcat women got fifth-place points from Anna Newman in the 200 IM (2:04.11) and from the 400 medley relay of Ann Thompson, Newman, Nora Ratmeyer and Addy Donaldson.
Donaldson added a sixth-place finish in the 50 free (23.40) and teamed with Ginny Thorsen, Brooke Mahoney and Claire Chason to take eighth in the 200 free relay (1:34.74).
The Davidson men were led by the fourth-place finish of the 200 free relay. Zain Butt, Guil Ware, Liam McDonough and Jeremy Kemp posted a time of 1:21.60.
Diver Garrett Sablich took seventh in the three-meter competition (251.70) as another top-8 finisher.
The Wildcat men had six qualify for the 500 free finals, led by Fletcher Smith, who took 10th (4:32.79). Others in the 500 free night session were Davis Moore, Jackson McDonald, Henry Logan, Robby Votta and Mitch McClain.
Frank Howden, Ryan Shute, Matthew Shnowske and Zachary Jones advanced to the 200 IM finals, while McDonough, Ware and Butt swam in the 50 free finals.
Also competing in finals for the Davidson women were:
• Thorsen and Rani Greer in the 500 free
• Mahoney, Cynthia Huang, Thompson and Ratmeyer in the 200 IM
• Chason in the 50 free

Saturday's second day of action begins with 10 a.m. prelims, followed by 6 p.m. finals.
