CHARLESTON, S.C. — For the third straight match, Davidson fell just short when it dropped a 4-3 decision on the road to College of Charleston Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point.
The Wildcats suffered its third straight one-point defeat to fall to 11-7 on the season, while CofC improved to 18-4.
Davidson was within 3-2 after freshman Brooks Green captured a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 6, but the Cougars sealed up the match with a three-set decision at No. 2 where Yash Parikh fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Thomas Mason tallied his third singles win of the season with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5.
The other Wildcat team point came from freshman Sam Kavarana at No. 3. He took a 6-4, 6-2 win to run his record to 11-4, tying him with Green and Parikh for tops on the team in wins.
College of Charleston opened the match by taking the doubles point with 6-2, 6-3 wins at No. 1 and 2 position.
Davidson stays in Charleston and will take on The Citadel on Sunday for an 11 a.m. match.
