Davidson Scores Win Over N.C. Central Friday

DAVIDSON, N.C.  — 
Davidson scored its third straight win by picking up a 6-0 win over N.C. Central Friday evening in men's tennis inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.
 
The Wildcats moved to 6-3 on the year, with a 5-2 record at home, while NCCU fell to 0-5 on the season.
 
For the fifth time the 'Cats started out by claiming the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins at No. 2 and 3 positions. The duo of David Hager and Shamael Chaudhry won their fifth straight to improve to 5-1 at No. 2, while Yash Parikh and Jack Riazzi won their third in a row.
 
In singles play, Axel Fries rolled to his fifth consecutive win with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 4 and gives him a 7-2 singles record.

The trio of Hager (6-2, 6-0, No. 5), Artem Khrapko (6-1, 6-3, No. 1) and Thomas Mason (6-0, 6-4, No. 3) each pushed their winning streaks to three in a row. Mason is tied with Fries with seven wins on the season. Riazzi won by default at No. 6 singles to push his record to 6-0 on the season.

Chaudhry saw his seven-match win streak come to an end after a 7-5, 6-2 setback at No. 2. It was the senior's second-longest winning streak during his career. He is 6-2 on the season.
 
Davidson plays at Virginia Tech next, heading to Blacksburg, Va., this Sunday for a 4:30 p.m. match.
