Wrestling Splits In Season Opener

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Davidson wrestling opened the 2016-17 season Sunday with a dual meet at Bloomsburg University, downing Keystone College, 44-4, before falling to host the host Huskies, 35-0.
Against the Giants of Keystone, the Wildcats won 9-of-10 matchups. Davidson opened the match with major decisions from sophomore Camden Bertucci and junior Dustin Runzo at 125 and 133 pounds. Noah Satterfield and Konner Pritchard also won by way of major decision at the 165 and 184 pound classes. Senior heavyweight Will Cooley ended the day with a pinfall that took just 2:02.
The 'Cats held tough in all 10 bouts against Bloomsburg, but were unable to come away with any match victories. Satterfield found himself in a battle at 165 with Reid Stanley, but the Husky earned a hard fought 4-2 decision.
The Wildcats open the season's home slate Wednesday, Nov. 11 against Greensboro. First match is slated to start at 7 p.m.
