Volleyball Suffers Saturday Sweep, Falls 3-0 to GW

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a role reversal from Friday night's 3-0 win, Davidson volleyball (9-14, 4-5 A-10) suffered a sweep Saturday, falling in straight sets to George Washington (8-15, 2-7 A-10) and handing them their second win in the league.
The Colonials swung a season-high .337 and road a career-high game from junior Aaliyah Davidson en route to the win, while Davidson senior Emily Franklin entered the final frame carrying a dynamic .700 hitting efficiency. She ended the match at .375 with a team-high nine kills.
The 'Cats dropped the opening stanza 25-17, suffering from a Colonial offense that scored nine out of 10 mid-set and build up a lead as high as nine points.
The second frame was much closer, with the Wildcats holding a 20-14 lead before GW used six unanswered points to tie the game and steal the set 25-23. The set saw a total of 14 ties and five lead changes.
In what was ultimately the finale, the score was knotted up at 13-13 before GW poured it on, taking eight of the next 10 points and securing the revenge rematch at 25-17, 3-0.
The Wildcats return to Baker for a home weekend, welcoming Rhode Island and Fordham on Friday and Sunday.
