Davidson Falls to American, Gardner-Webb at Belk Arena

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Scott Patrick and Nathaniel Powers each scored a pin as Davidson (4-12, 0-4 SoCon) dropped two duals at Belk Arena Sunday. Davidson fell to Gardner-Webb (5-9, 3-3 SoCon), 38-6 and American (6-9, 1-4 EIWA) 33-6.
Patrick pinned Gardner-Webb's Hunter Gamble, while Powers took down Nicholas Carey from American. With the wins, Patrick improves to 5-3 overall, while Powers owns an 8-11 overall record.
Gamble scored the first points with a takedown in the first period, but Patrick recorded a reversal to even the score at two. Gamble tallied a late escape to lead 3-2 heading in to the second period. Patrick then came out fast in the third, getting an escape and a takedown before ultimately pinning Gamble at the 5:37 mark to put Davidson on the board. It's Patrick's second pin of the season.
Against American, Powers came out fast in the first tallying to takedowns in the opening three-minutes, before touching Carey's shoulder blades to the mat at the 1:42 mark. It's Powers fourth pin of the season.
Davidson will remain home to host Sacred Heart Sunday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m.
