Davidson Wrestling Goes 2-1 at BU Duals

BOSTON – The Davidson wrestling team earned victories over American International College, 32-15, and Sacred Heart, 26-15, Saturday at the Boston University Duals in Case Gym. Only host BU defeated the Wildcats, 36-10.
Senior heavyweight Charlie Wolff and junior 165-pounder Tyler Mullen led the 'Cats (4-7) with a 3-0 record. Davidson forfeited four bouts to BU, but spilt the six contested bouts.
The Wildcats began the day against AIC, dropping just one contested bout. Mullen led off with an 8-2 decision and freshman Scott Patrick pinned Angel Mazza in 3:32 to give Davidson an early 9-0 lead. Davidson forfeited at 184 pounds, but sophomore Ike Crews (197) and Wolff earned decisions, sophomore Matt Zarth earned a technical fall, and senior Alex Radsky (133 ponuds) and sophomore Scott Ray (149) earned forfeit wins.
Mullen earned a hard-fought 4-2 decision over Kyle Czarnecki to lead off the BU match, but Davidson had to forfeit the next three bouts. Wolff and senior Vitaly Radsky (141) earned Davidson's lone other victories. Wolff earned a decision, while Radsky scored an 11-0 major decision.
Davidson capped the day with a convincing win over Sacred Heart. The match was even at 6-6, after Mullen and Patrick earned decisions and the 'Cats forfeited at 174 pounds. Crews and Wolff gave Davidson a six-point cushion before gallant comeback attempt by Zarth fell just short at 9-7. The Radsky twins secured the match though, as Alex earned a technical fall at 133 pounds and Vitaly followed with a decision at 141.
The Wildcats will take a 10-day break before taking on Anderson and Belmont Abbey at the Anderson Duals Feb. 2.
