
'Cats Wrap Tournament Play, Drop Matches Against Buffalo, High Point

BUFFALO, N.Y. --- Freshman Christine Perzinski represented the Davidson Wildcats on the University of Buffalo Classic All-Tournament Team, as the 'Cats finished tournament play with a pair of losses Saturday, dropping a five-set match to High Point and losing 3-0 to host Buffalo in the nightcap.
Perzinski finished the tournament with 22 kills and a .237 hitting percentage (22-8-59). She also had a team-high 11 service aces to go along with a pair of blocks and 27 digs.
After concluding tournament play, Davidson is 4-8 overall.
In the first match of the way, despite a two-set lead and three players in double figures, the Wildcats failed to put away the High Point Panthers, who rallied for a five-set win (22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-12) in the first match of the day at the University of Buffalo Classic.
Sophomore Sarabeth Peele led Davidson with 16 kills, while freshmen Christine Perzinski (11) and Madison Benedict (10) each finished in double-figures. Sophomore setter Hayley Lawson had a match-high 41 assists and 15 digs. Perzinski also double-doubled with 11 digs, and sophomore Jennifer Chamblee and senior KIttery Neale finished with 25 and 11 digs, respectively.
High Point was led by Ashley Mellott with 13 kills and Lindsay Raus with 12. The Panthers improve to 10-2 win the win.
In the tournament finale, Perzinski had 11 kills and nine digs, while hitting .348 (11-3-23), but it wasn't enough for the 'Cats, who suffered the 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-20) loss to host Buffalo.
Buffalo (5-9) was led by Marissa Hornbaker, who had 13 kills on 29 swings.
Davidson will open Southern Conference play next weekend, hosting Georgia Southern Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Samford Saturday at 2 p.m.
