Carol Grotnes Belk Turf Field
FHOC Miami 1
Sports: Field Hockey
Capacity: 300
Opened: 2002
Address: 205 Ridge Road, Davidson NC 28036

The Carol Grotnes Belk Turf Field was built in 2002, and serves as the home of Davidson Field Hockey.

Belk Turf Field was the first synthetic turf field on campus. The turf's three layers-carpet on top of rubber on top of cement-make it durable and weather-resistant was installed in 2002.

The facility also features grandstands and lights for night competition.

Prior to the start of the 2014 season, Belk Turf Field's playing surface was replaced with state-of-the-art AstroTurf 12, which is the optimal playing surface for field hockey. Davidson became the fifth school in the nine-team Atlantic 10 Conference to upgrade to this playing surface.

During the spring of 2016, the facility underwent another facelift. The $135,000 features a new press box, team benches and storage.

The state-of-the-art press box, with enough seating for 10-12 media members, was installed between the team benches. The two-story structure includes a video platform on the roof, providing a new vantage point for enhanced game production and coverage.

The bench areas themselves are enclosed, providing players with protection from the elements when not playing. The press box also features a huge storage unit at field level for the team to house their equipment.

The field is named in honor of Carol Grotnes Belk from a gift by her husband, Irwin Belk, Class of 1945.
